I HAVE TWO QUESTIONS.

1. IF WE ARE USING 5 FT WHIPS IN THE CEILING FROM BOX TO 2X4 LIGHT HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE TO STRAP OR SUPPORT IT?

2. HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE TO SUCURE MC IN WALLS? ITS IT 1 FOOT FROM BOX AND THEN EVERY 4 FEET?

330.30 says type MC "shall be supported and secured at intervals not exceeding 6 ft."
330.30(B) says type MC "shall be permitted to be unsupported where the cable:
(1) ...
(2) Is not more than 6 ft. from the last point of support for connections within an accesible ceiling to luminaires or equipment.
330.30(C) says"....shall be secured within 12 inches of every box, cabinet, fitting or other cable termination.

Ditto Greg's reply, add that after the 12" securing form the box, it must be secured every 6'.

DOES THE MEAN A LIGHTING WHIP FIVE FEET LONG DOES NOT NEED TO BE STRAPED WITHIN ON FOOT OF BOX AND LIGHT?

Five feet is less than six, last time I looked [Linked Image]

Going to a luminaire or other single / dedicated piece of equipment, less than 6 is OK w/o support.

Using it to extend an existing wiring system? support within 12", then every 6' thereafter.

Your AHJ may have (sounds like does have) a different intepretation, but that's the one most of us are familiar with.

BTW, ALL CAPS is SHOUTING... [Linked Image]
