Had a call for a burned out main breaker on a FPE panel. the Main breaker was literally burn up where it was stabbed into the buss in the panel.

The customer was not home and fortunately the buss burned up before and there must have been a small explosion in the panel as pictures on and adjacent wall fell off.

The strange thing was that the only load would have been the furnace as they were out and the house never burned down.

Just the panel basically burned up. All the info that I have read here in other posts should tell me what to expect from that panel.

The only thing is I have been told that The USA version called federal pioneer are not the same as the Canadian version called federal Pacific. I sure have my doubts now.
