Here is a link to to auto recals, campains, and TSB's. http://www.alldata.com/recalls/ http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/portal/site/nhtsa/menuitem.ee6733b87096a398d33a431046108a0c/

Try to find any car more then a few years old with out a safety recall or repair campain. Takes a few years for some problems to come out.

The TSB are tecnicnical service bulitains that inform the tec of common problems with a car or updated repair information. If you look back it is nothing new.

You need to concider how common or serious the recall is before you condem the car. Some recalls are simply a visual check of something and corection if there is a problem. Other ones highlight a major engering defect like the seat belts fail with overweight people.

The manufacture may initiate a volitary recall. Or the NHTSA can require the factory to do the recall. The NHTSA starts an investigation based on owners complaints.

Concider some recalls are brought from owners complaining about a failure that is not so much of a defect.

There was one about ball joints wairing out after 4 years and 60K miles. The truck never had a safty inspection so instead of finding a worn out piece it broke and the truck went off the road. I admit it is not great haveing anythig go bad at 60K but a safty recall on all the trucks is too much. The news stations like the stories. They are easy, just look up on the web sites. Filler for a slow news day. They probibly have a number of these stories ready. Monday morining not much news was gathered what do you get. Headline dodge recalls 1 milion trucks for the wheels falling off, after the weather. You'll hear about one person it happened to.

How would Dodge fix this. Inspect the trucks and If it's loose replace only the bad one.

With the number of different cars made today an auto recall could be a headline every day.

Just negitive news on TV.
What to get hammered? Watch CNN and take a drink every time you hear the word terrorist.
