Is anyone having difficulty using the 05 NEC on CD??

swapping the disk from computer to computer or re launching on the same computer.

Just curious

I have not bought it yet, Mike Holt stopped selling them because the NFPA intentionally made the CD-ROM in a way that it can not be installed on a hard drive.

If you look at the licensing agreement (we all do that right?) it does not allow it to be run on more than one PC.

I will try to find the info Mike gave out.

Here is the thread I was thinking of.

It also presents a work around that will cost you money.

The more I read these threads the more I think all of these trade/code organizations are simply scams. How much do these weasels make?
We have millionaires squeezing tradesmen out of a day's pay or more for a book that is in effect a public law.
It costs me close to $1000 last year to keep up with all the books, classes, member dues, fees, taxes and other expenses necessary to keep my license up. I made exactly $0 in 2004 but I don't want to let this stuff lapse in case I do want to go back to work.

BTW I have always resisted it but I may start looking on the warez newsgroups for a "cracked" version of the handbook.
I know there was a 2002 version floating around but I had already sent my pound of flesh into IAEI for mine so I didn't pursue it.

While in Anaheim, CA this week at the Electric West show an NFPA employee said that the 2005 NEC CD will be replaced with one that will allow loading onto 2 machines only.

Charlie:

I will travel to Denver, Kansas, and Palm Springs, CA starting next week, and through the end of the month and into the first week in March.

PS: Have you tried the "export" function from the NEC CD?

Members of the NFPA can see the entire 2005 NEC as a "Real-Read" document.
