Geeze guys, don't know why this is so much of a problem. Do it as Kentva says which is the way I always do it and have it at my house for the last 40 years.

The photocontrol always needs to be powered so put the time clock contacts in the red switch leg going to your contactor coil. Power the time clock motor separately- remove the jumper, that's why it's there.

Set the time clock for your "off" time and to come on sometime in the afternoon. I like to keep the "on" time as late as possible (without having to keep setting it) so if it gets dark because of a storm during the day the lights won't come on.
