electronic ballasts

I notice the T12s work in fixtures with e-ballasts, anybody know factually whether this will harm or shorten the life of the tubes or ballast? The only difference observed was the T8s were brighter.

It should state on the ballast what tubes it supports. Use only the proper tubes for the ballast.
