I found this photo while browsing. I have no idea where or when it was taken, and it was just captioned "Ice Storm." From the looks of the lines and poles I would guess it dates back a good few years.

Winter is on the way folks! [Linked Image]

Hmmm,
How many circuits can you get on the one pole?.
Is this an Electrical system or Telecommunications wiring?.
Anyone have any idea how old this picture would be?.

WEll it looks to me, that if you look real close you can see the primarys crosing the street in the picture. Faded gray lines in the pic. You can then also notice the end of the cross bar on the pole on the left side of the street that is out of range. So my guess there prob not power. phone cable more then likely

You also seee this alot in the PA area like poconos etc. Seen it many times

We just had a storm here in Halifax over the weekend. Needless to say there are some people still without power.

I'm in the Annapolis Valley myself and our power came on about 3 hours ago... Just after my father purchased a generator for a few thousand bucks [Linked Image]

I, myself, am 17 and a long time lurker.

The first picture looks strongly like telephone or railroad signal wiring. As I looked at the picture, I think there is a chance it may be along a rail line There are a set of tracks/groves in the snow that might just be standard gage apart.

It looks more like a road to me, and could that dark spot way in the diatance (left side of road as we're looking at it) be a car? Looks like a building just beyond that on the right as well.

This sort of multiple cross arm with dozens of individual pairs is typical of old-style telephone cabling. They could be local loops for subscribers, or individual trunks between central offices, or possibly a mixture of both.

In Maine in 1998 we had 6 days of ice. 3/4 of the state lost power. Unbelieveable, laying in bed and listening to trees, branches snap off. Some areas lost power for weeks. I was down 7 days but had a generator to keep going between my house and parents house.
There was 6 inches of clear blue ice on horizontal surfaces in Bangor Maine after that storm
Do a google search on January 98 ice storm to see other cool pics. Quebec got it worse than Maine;eek:
