is there a rule of thumb for the percentage of main breaker in a panel to the other breakers in the same panel...
eg....400 amp main breaker
840 amp total breaker load

PLEASE HELP..

Not that I'm aware of. I'd suggest doing typical load calculations for the type of building per the NEC.
