arseegee, I have been told that I can expect 11-13 mpg from this truck(6.0 liter gas). I will be thrilled to no end with that! I haden't seen better than 7 mpg out of my Ford F250 for 2 years. The Chevy has a 36 gal tank. Filling that up will hurt but at least it won't happen as often.

... Fred, Good Luck with your new rig !! Nothing like getting a new truck,..'specially if it came with a great deal attached..I got my new 2004 E-250 back in March, and I've been "babying" her...I'm still using my old truck,..a "94 Chevy Astro EXT,with 196,000 miles, and still(Thank God)runnin' strong... I have been driving a 2004 2500HD with a service bed, for about six months.
The 10 mpg I get in the city still beats the '95 3\4 ton ford I was driving....and a whole lot quieter.

Sounds like a great day at the Fred house! Congrats!

We had been looking to trade in my '99 Suburban (The Behemoth Bren-Mobile) which we had gotten a good deal on about a year and half ago. We should've taken the earlier offers since they were talking in the $18K range. By the time we found a suitable car they were offering $9K and we just couldn't take the loss... We're borrowing a Saturn 2-door for our recent highway runs to the doctors 100 miles away and the $15 fill-up is a lot easier to take than the $75 ones but I truly don't feel as safe as I did in my SUV.

Bren, I know what you mean. My wife went back to school full time last year and she's commuting every day(50 miles round trip). We bought her a Geo Metro and it gets 50mpg! I have ridden in it a time or two but I wouldn't want to drive 50 miles a day every day in it. I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs. and Geos don't come in a 48L. She loves the fuel economy and it makes her college that much more affordable. She also thinks it's a cute car and fun to drive. I feel like a sitting duck(sardine) in it on the highway.
