... Sorry to have been a stranger, but I've had major computer issues lately..and Gateway was of no help what-so-ever!! It seems we've had a few "brown-outs" here, and my CPU crashed...something about "Windows XP not loading".So I called Gateway, and they were useless. Finally called a computer tech company locally, had to bring in the tower, and $375.00 later it was fixed..Being that I'm practically computer illiterate didn't help matters any.I first thought it was a virus, but the tech said it was CPU related.???? I'm back up and running, and bought a UPS system to help power down when these outages occur.I'm gonna check all the older threads to see what I've missed.
Missed you all!!

computers can be so frustrating when things go south. Not to mention the $ side! As if we don't have enough on our plates, we have to try and figure out all this virus "stuff" 2? Been there, just recently Russ. These R the "Good ole' days?"

In this era of POCO deregulation, running a computer without a UPS is an open invitation to disaster. I've put one on my computer, my entertainment system, and, with all the short power bumps I've been seeing lately, I'm going to put a little one on the electric clocks in the bedroom so we can reasonably expect the alarms to go off about the right time.
I am suprised by the number of people who remember to protect the $1000 computer and completely overlook the $3000 plus home entertainment setup.
