For those interested, I have a quick and easy method, although crude, of marking tools with any plastic casing fast.

Get a dog tag printed with raised lettering, with your message / threat! Heat with torch, apply quickly, done. It has mixed results but works.

They also make those epoxy lables that are real hard to remove.

I'm not supporting theft in any way, but I think it's one thing to steal something valuable but useless, and much much worse to steal the tools that someone needs to use to make a living... Sorry to hear about your loss, hope the theives get caught

I hate to hear about tool thefts. I once worked for a guy that would have stolen the gold out of his mother's fillings but he would not touch a working stiff's toolbox. Honor amoung thieves, I guess.
