Have a factory that burned down last week. All of the investigators are there checking out the fire.
Building had a new 400 amp. 3/0, 4 wire service installed in early April. POCO hit this with 2 drops from transformer. Crimps were 3to 4" apart from each other in no particular manner.
Wind speeds this last week between 15 to 45 mph.
Wind causing wires to make contact with each other possilbly crimps connecting.
If a phase wire came into contact with a neutral wire could this possibly electrify the neutral ground system and bond system to create a spark where the bond wire ran across the roof joist and metal gussets and combustible material in the attic?
Note, the fuses at the power pole did not blow.

How werwe the crimps insulated?
Do simular crimps by the POCO look safe?
Was weather (lightning) a factor?
Is there any evidence of other than electrical causes?
Was and neutral wire bare back to the transformer? and if so was it in contact with any building metal parts?

Questions that occur to me now that may or may not pertain. Truely accurate fire investigation is a lot of work and can be costly. But if not done can and does lead to too many fire caused by electrical origion conclusions when not necessarily true.
A quick sign off of the investigation with realitively little money spent make the cities/counties/state bean counters happy.
