I have been considering becoming licenced in Suffolk County, NY. I am not licenced anywhere right now, but I am will to do whatever it takes to become licenced. Can someone tell me what the proces involves and who I need to contact?

Thank you,

John,

You need to contact:

Suffolk County Dept. of Consumer Affairs:
North County Complex, Bldg. 340
Hauppauge, New York 11788-0099
(631) 853-4600
E-mail: consumer.affairs@co.suffolk.ny.us

When I went through it (20+ years ago) I believe the requirement (to be eligible for exam) was for 5 years experience with up to 2 yrs. off for Trade schooling. If you got approved you had to take both a written and practical (hands on) exam.
