Hello folks,
I have passed my California General Journetman Electrician exam.
I feel good.

The deadline is January 1,2005 to get the certification, What happens if employees do not have the certification?
Anybody know?

Thanks
Edward

Thanks
Edward

Congratulations Edward.
As far as what happens after January 1st... well nothing really. There is no enforcement in place. It is going to be up to scrupulous employers to follow the law. My employer has made it clear that anyone without a license at that time will not work here regardless of enforcement. The local unions around here will not dispatch without it. (Until someone challenges it whether the union has the right to deny a referral on those grounds.) As for the merit shops, it will be up to each individual employer as to weather they want to comply with the law. As it stands now, there is nobody willing to take the responsibility to police the job sites.
