Mike (Trumpy);
Just goes to show how antiquated my system is!.
My Wife's Workstation is the newest Technology based Machine - Intel Celeron, based on the first Generation Pentium 4 CPUs.
Monitor is also the newest, but her Printer is the same HP 720C Color Inkjet which was used on her previous Machine (purchased new in July 1997).
The remaining W/Ss and server equipment are Pentium 2 (AL440BX) and older!
Do most of you guys use the HP gear?.
I currently use all HP gear (kind of biased, I guess...). Both flatbed scanners are also HP.
When I used Tractor Feed Impact Printers, these were universally Epson. First Laser Printer was an old "Legacy" HP type - with Font Cartridges, driven via serial port (yuck!).
Wide Format Printers and Pen Plotters were of two flavors - Calcomp & HP.
Both Companies made great Pen Plotters - media sizes upto Arch. E (36" x 48").
HP models often came with optional serial (RS232) port, or the HPIB (IEEE-488, AKA "GPIB"). It was a cool idea (HPIB), but equipment was expensive and difficult to find.
Common ports for past and present Plotters + Wide/Large Media Format Printers (AKA "Big Inkjet Printers") are Serial ports and Parallel (IEEE-1284) EPP.
The only "Non-HP" Printing peripheral in use currently is the Fax / Laser printer combo machine. It's a Xerox model, plus it doubles as Local Printer for PC#5.
Scott35,
You have a black Cat too?, I love them!!!!
Oh ya!!! We really have 4 Black Cats, but the others were sleeping at the time. Also, Marshall is a real Ham for the Camera - and when a Print Job queues, He runs upto the Printer and watches until the job is complete -hence the "Print Manager" reference!
I'll post a new message in the Computer area, with more details about our past and present setups. Will come back here to insert link to that topic afterwards.
