Could pick a topic, and a time and day, say every thursday evening from 7:00PM to 8:00 PM EST The topic could be posted a week in advance. Poll for the topic.

Ever considered using Internet Relay Chat?

Free, and you could easily set up a java client.

Virtually limitless users.

It would be allright as long as those in charge of ECN Live Chats are on top of the registered users.

On the plus side, it would be okay to have a professional chat site "for-the-good-of-the-industry", so to speak.

On the negative(pun) once the chat line becomes known it attracts a very different crowd.

Pretty high voltage discussions could take place......

DGT,

Welcome to ECN,

It would be our intention that the service would only be available to registered users here.

I think that that is the way that it should be, as in, if you are not registered at ECN, don't enter our Chat rooms.
It would save a lot of DIY questions.
What do you other people reckon??. [Linked Image]

I agree. As all registrations are now handled individually by Bill, it means he can control who has access.

Mike,

It might, but the main reason for limiting access in my mind would be to keep it within our Community and therefore somewhat insulated from the transient troublemakers that seem to get into everything nowadays.
