Anyone have any good ideas for anchoring to old stone foundation walls with crumbly mortar joints?
I saw a guy pound 6" or so long pieces of 1/2" copper pipe into the joints and use an expansion anchor into the pipe.
Any other ideas?

As budgets permit, there are some very creative masonry-anchoring components available, like http://www.us.hilti.com/holus/modules/prcat/prca_navigation.jsp?OID=-12093
