..OMG!!!! Whats with these panels in the kitchens??? In Jersey, I've never seen this...its quite strange...or maybe I've just been lucky!!!

You don't like the convenience of taking a shower while reseting breakers?

Around here many condos or apartments get the panel in the kitchen, this saves wire, more circuits of larger sizes run from panel to kitchen.

They do not end up in cabinets though.

I seen one on one of the TV DIY shows, that depicted a horizontally mounted panel in a kitchen-like cabinter, with two sing out doors,
and a piece in the middle (as you would for normal cabinetry), that obsucres access to the panel, and the breakers behind that support.
