I'm trying to get low voltage wiring from the attic to basement in a house. The problem I'm having is the drill rods I'm using keep snapping the drill heads off after I get three extensions on. Is it that you can only use so many extensions and then they just cannot take the tork? I need to do this and I don’t want to cut hole in the drywall. Do I just want the not possible? This is sensor for HVAC system, has to be away from power and under 200'. I'm using those drill rods that are thin steal and flex with a little self feed bit at the end.
This is the ones I'm using. Maybe I should try the different bit type?? The HO is having anxiety because I'm having a hard time. I tell him it’s OK and that this kind of thing can happen but that it will work out. http://www.jensentools.com/product/group.asp?parent_id=7210
Not that I've found yet, the pipes are fitted thrue the holes so tight. I think what I might do is run the wires to an outside wall that I already have an out door sensor run down from the sofit and run it outside and down and then back again. This might push the 200' limit though.
JohnnyB,- Is this a single or two story house? If single its easy, bore a hole up from basement, then a hole down from attic, then run yuor snake down the wall and fish it out. If two story maybe some closets or piping lines up to the attic.
