Does anyone here belong to a group for discounted BWC rates? I've been looking into it and qualified for a group through my BBB. Apparently I have to pay $175.00 for admin costs and underwriting and then I'll get 95% off my rates. I think this is common but I guess I just would like to hear feedback from others. Its legit, right?

Thanks-
Mike

BTW - How's everyone been? I've been pretty busy, hence...not here for along time

Hi Happi, it's been a while.....

You have my curiosity up; what's "BWC" ???
(You talking Workers Comp Insurance??)

95% off of any of the "rates" I pay sounds too good to be true!!

Please clue me in on BWC

John

Yeah, exactly...Bureau of Worker's Compensation. There are two groups that I know of here in Ohio. One is called the Sheakley Group and one is called Compensation Consultants Inc.(http://www.cciworkerscomp.com/). They send out those "Temporary Authorization to Review" forms. Then they collect your information from the BWC and pout you in a grouping based on your "safety record".

Now mind you, that's 95% off your rates, not off your premium. And that's the highest "tier" which is easy for me to make it into being only 3 men big and in business just two years. No WC claims. Its supposedly like a group thing. You know how you get better health insurance rates the bigger your group is? (like any of those rates are good...)

I don't think its a scam really, I mean I got in contact with one through the Better Business Bureau that I belong to and one through the BIA. I've gotten stuff from other companies as well through the mail.

I can't be the only one that's ever heard of tis can I? LOL!

Thanks for the reply. I don't think we have anything like that here in NJ.

My WC is in with all my business insurance as a package thru an Association "favored" agency. The package is 25K+ a year.

What about payroll reporting and stuff? Do you have to report payroll every 6 mo or you just pay a flat workers comp. fee ea year?

That sounds nice...

The Ohio BWC for the last several years was giving you a 75% discount on your premiums until just recently. Now they are making you pay 100%. Screwy...
