a lady asked me about some recess lights in her dining room. the problem is they make a noise when they are dimmed . about six lights and a fan light are on the dimmer. any ideas what would cause this?

Sam,

I think that what you are hearing may be the filaments in the bulbs vibrating. Changing to a different brand of Bulbs may help. Or using ones that say 130 volt may have slightly thicker filaments and make less noise. Make sure that the Fan (motor) itself is not on the dimmer.

I hope this helps.
