Is NEMA Type 7 enclosures are for indoor use only? Can any one please clarify this and give the NEC reference?

Type 7 Enclosures are"for use indoors in locations classified as Class 1 Group A,B,C, or D.
Crouse-Hinds will provide an optional neoprene o-ring-type gasket to make the enclosure raintight.
For example:
EJB junction boxes that are "Style C" are considered NEMA 3,4,7 & 9.
