The approved design for the rebuilding of the World Trade Center.
What does everyone think?

I really wish they would just build it back like it was, but I guess my opinion doesn't count. At least one part of it is as tall as the original.

The new design is impressive, but the old buildings that are missing from this landscape ...... should be put back the way they were!

I don't like it. The design is too modern for the NYC skyline.

I don't like the concept of a memorial. I liked the old buildings.

I think Mr. Silverstein should decide.

I agree with RR:

The proposed replacement buildings are ugly. But so was the original World Trade Center. Unfortunately the original amount of office space that was lost is probably not going to be replaced.

You're going to think I'm a cold blooded person for saying this but here goes:

A memorial should certainly be part of the new Trade Center, but we should keep in mind that we are a city of commerce and a new Trade Center should be first...well...a first-class office complex, not a graveyard.

A restored NYC economy would be, in my opinion the best memorial and the best way to say *&#*$ to the %$#&@# who took the first Trade Center down.

Although...if it were up to me, I would have been super happy if the old Radio Row (a whole street lined with radio parts stores) had come back from the grave!! [Linked Image]

EDITED TO REMOVE THE EXPLETIVES. MY APOLOGIES TO ALL! I got a bit emotional there for a minute.

Shifting it back to electricity, you may be wondering what the three red and white smokestacks are in the picture Joe shot from the train window.

Those are the smokestacks for one of KeySpan's power generating plants. It used to belong to Consolidated Edison (who also owns the gasworks and steam heat pipes) until a few years back with this whole deregulation thing.

The plant is located in Long Island City, on the banks of the East River facing Manhattan. I used to have a nice view of these stacks from my mom's place. Could tell if it was windy outside by just looking which direction the smoke columns...bent. [Linked Image]

Nothing personal, but a few @&&^* will serve the same purpose.
Maybe yourself or Bill can edit your post.

Sorry TX.

Got a bit emotional there for a minute. Expletives have been removed. No offense intended.
