Just a personal opinion!

New Member signs on to the ECN board and begins to ask questions, and gets answers very quickly!

I don't like it this way.

I hope others agree, or at least come up with some solution.

Nicknames are OK but ..... don't hide behind them please, and don't be offended please .....!

Many people don't want their e-mail address posted. Doing so causes a large increase in spam.

Don:

You are correct. I use earthlink spaminator, and it helps to catch the spam I receive everyday.

This is a major problem and it looks like we cannot control it unless we load software to guard against the unwanted messages.

One of the first things I do when I sign on is to delete the stored spam messages that were caught by the spaminator.

I sometimes want to reply to those from the nigerian republic of fondu and futtter with a very harsh comments, but know if I do it would be like cutting my throat!

My profile says "Member" now (cool! although I really am still a newbie) but I have no problem putting my stuff up. Sure spam sucks, but at one point I worked for a website and got a few humbered e-mails a day. So if you don't want spam, get a yahoo or hotmail (or some other free e-mail host) and use it for ECN and spam hunting! It's worth it! [Linked Image]

I'm probably going to regret mentioning this, but I've listed my home e-mail as my listed e-mail here. It's that one, or my work e-mail, (I can't remember. I'll look after I've posted this [Linked Image]) and it goes to my home e-mail as well. But, except for a "friend" who put me on a porn e-mailing list, I don't get many spam e-mails at all.

Now watch, I'll start getting all sorts of junk e-mails.

Oh by the way, like Joe, I don't care for the "anonymously" registered posters here or any of the other forums I participate in. I'm not even a fan of "nicks" or "handles" instead of poster's names. But they have their names and locations on their profiles at least.

your going to have the occasional fly by poster on any BB, and the registration alludes to a nick.

just accept it, and be polite about it.

Keith,

What does jbfan stand for. If it means what I think it does we might have a lot in common. Well at least one thing. Oh yeah, welcome to the board.

Hi Everyone!

I too have been lurking on the sidelines...... Just haven't had the two cents to throw in yet!
I do enjoy the learning and reminders I have read here and check the board several times a day usually.
I've been in the trades over 30 years and a sparky since the '86 NEC.
I will be taking the ESI/BI test here in Ohio in June to be certified as an Electrical inspector and a Building inspector. If anyone should have advice or comments, I would appreciate your input.

Keep up the great work guys!
Thanks,
Dave
