I have not seen any of the drop rods in the field. A large percentage of the ECs here have the ceiling guys install drop wires for the luminaires.

We do not have the seismic issues that you guys on the 'shaky side' have. Diagonal corners on the lay-in fixtures, along with mechanical connection to the grid is the norm.

Sure wish I had the ceiling guys to do this one. It's a long way up to the original ceiling. Wouldn't be as bad if the ceiling grid wasn't already in, but unfortunately the owners took it on themselves to hang the grid before checking with an electrical contractor:( The good part is that the structure is wood and not concrete

Beazer Homes (Roseville) was a TI that used Hilti 1/4" drop rods about 2' long. (Foreman's gaff -- they should've been 4'.)

The lid was concrete set in pan-decking.

Drop rods were selected because the lid was entirely open -- and so the EMT back-bone could be entirely run -- support and all -- before the grid went up.

We faced no interferrence from any other sub at that time.

All other jobs favored #12 drop wires -- spray painted in the field -- sometimes back at the shop.

The Hilti drop rods saved on labor -- but were not the cheapest material.
