You are too funny.

Some tanks have aluminum frames which contact the water. Some have various metal objects hung over edge which are in contact with the cover was is grounded along with the light.

So if the drill had no EGC and the water was not touching something grounded, then it was faked.

It suspect that the water was in contact with a grounding conductor. It may be something as simple as a heating element that has direct metal contact with the water. But yeah, it could have been contrived (though I sure hope not; that's called misleading the public!).

You would have had to have been there.

I always believe everything I see on TV. Yea, right. Many many things, even on so called news invetagative reports are faked.

The aluminum frame must have been properly bonded...

Or they used the new conductive glass...

I should point out that the aquarium only had water in it...

It was a few years ago, I could be wrong on many details...

You are right that guy Ron Hazelwood is the pits, I have been writing him for 2 years now. Especially after he showed how to wire up a Ceiling fan with two switches, he ran two no. 14-2 romex inorder to have a second conductor for the second switch, and deadended one of the (neutrals)grounded conductors. My question to him was, Why not a 14-3,Duh,,, I never received a reply, I pointed out the idea of all conductors in the same conduit, raceway, etc, and since you cant parallel anything smaller that 1/0, and believe it or not this guy has a DIY book out to help other homeowners get into the same trouble. He is oblivious to any critism regardless of right or wrong. You would think that the show would have a cautionery note try this at home at YOUR own risk.

those clowns don't care if it's correct or not. they just want to sell more advertising and get paid for each time the show is run on the air. i have laughed at some of the stupid things diyers wives have had me fix sometimes after they see the diyer jumping and cussing from getting bit. one customer shorted out his 200 amp service mast was burnt thru.pity i didn't have a camera then.

I'm just looking through some older posts here. On Decorating ////s they installed pendant lights and used the existing recessed can lights as the power source. The HOs were so happy and impressed, yeah they won't be so happy when the electrican comes to figure out why their lights won't work!

Is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?
