The only place you get a "huss" is in 680.22(A)(4) for branch circuit wiring to motors for the portion inside a single family dwelling. (4) One-Family Dwellings. In the interior of dwelling units, or in the interior of accessory buildings associated with a dwelling unit, any of the wiring methods recognized in Chapter 3 of this Code that comply with the provisions of this section shall be permitted. Where run in a cable assembly, the equipment grounding conductor shall be permitted to be uninsulated, but it shall be enclosed within the outer sheath of the cable assembly.

New in New Jersey Like to know how you made out with the pool Having. kind of same problem New pool inspector says I can't use. UF Does not have cover on ground 340.108 the cable shall be permitted to have an insulated or bare grounding conductor Can't find any thing like it in 680 680.25 (A) (1) feeders does not talk about UF. Thanks Wire101 Covered is not the same as INSULATED. 680.25 requires the EGC to be insulated. UF also is NOT an approved wiring method for feeders to pool panels.

Well good news guys, Today I spoke with my State Electrical Inspector and NFPA. They both agreed with me 100%; The restricted wiring methods as stated in 680.25 are NOT mandatory prior to the main disconnect. So if you have a swimming pool on the property and your meter has no main you can use SEU cable (Cu or Alu)from the meter pan to the main disconnect. For those of you who commented - I thank you

Wire101: Welcome to ECN Forums from one of the 'Jersey Guys'!!
The Article you mention is descriptive of the construction characteristics for UF cable.
As others said, UF is not an approved wiring method within Article 680.
You have an inground, or above ground pool??
