Where can I find the code requiring the removal of abandoned cables and conductors unless they are labled "spare" or "for future use"?

There are rules in cellular raceway system, low voltage, alarm and data center articles but I don't know of anything specific in article 300 wiring.

Greg I don't know if this is relevant or not but 590.3(D) might apply depending on what the OP is talking about. And if it's one of the cables in Chapter 7 or 8 they need to be removed or tagged per XXX.25

Thank you Mr Little. That was the info I was looking for. Using your help and the additional information available in the Handbook, I found a total of ten articles related to this subject.
