One option i once pursued was to deenergize , have a carpenter yank the baseboard. and ring the room
Said carpenter replaced the baseboard, with nice cut in's for my boxes and all
He made the new baseboard just a tad higher to cover the damage to the plaster/lath
Oh and, getting power to the 2nd flr or attic? Piece of 3/4" pvc sch 40, follow the trim up so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, 4-11 on either end
