My question is, why are these things being sold in the US
without some sort of a UL listing or testing before they are released onto the market?
It is increasingly easy to start a house fire these days, with synthetic furniture, carpets and unfortunately bedding.
The thick, toxic smoke that these things generate, mean that there is a significantly less chance that a family will escape a house fire, as opposed to 20 or so years ago, unless there are working smoke detectors (that haven't been disabled).
Devices like this don't make that risk any less, they should be banned for the dangerous junk that they are.
