Anyone familiar with ColdFusion Express?

I have a teach-yourself book coming that may include a copy of this on CD. It's kind of dated (~2000), but I was wondering if anyone knew if it would run under Windows XP?

I need to learn some ColdFusion to work with .cfm pages with forms that access a Mssql database.

I have SQL Server Express 2008 installed on my PC and was hoping the ColdFusion Express would give me an environment where I could test the .cfm pages with a local SQL database.

Anybody know if these will work?

LOL!

I don't know very much about it myself. I'm forced to learn new things all the time now to keep things running on the website(s).

LOL

Now I've got something called ColdFusion MX7 Web Application Construction Kit. No way I'm reading this whole book. It should have what I need to know in there somewhere.

Bill,
One of our "team suppliers" at the Chip (french fries) factory, was talking about Cold Fusion the other day.
I pushed him on the fact of what it actually was (as I'd only heard it from you).
He told me it was the system that you can use if you can't work with Java.

Damn them Uber-strange software folks with their funny talk.
I actually left there, knowing less from that meeting than what I did when I walked in.

Now work that out. grin

Mike,

My need for it is to interact with an existing database.

I've got some 70,000 entries from across the US that people can search to find an Electrician, or Supplier in any particular area.

I've got the search part working ok, but until I fix the code no one can add or modify their company information to the database. I'd also like to make the whole thing look a little prettier.

I'm working my way through the haze slowly, as time permits. I think I may be able to fix this thing eventually.
