Thank you, John, for the citation. Again, my memory was close, but not exact.

Looking at the combined effect of the various tables, we arrive at 16 amps allowed for #14, and 20 amps for #12 (using the 60 degree column). Since there's that little footnote that already limits us to 15 and 20 amps, respectively, we're left right where we started.

Unless, of course, we strat putting multiple cables through the same holes, or grouping them all together. "Maintaining spacing" has been subject to a great deal of debate on some other boards, rather reminding me of the mideaval theologians debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

I don't know where I got the idea that Romex was now allowed to use the 75-degree column; it seems I was wrong on that point. Thanks for the correction!

Didn't read the can, eh? There's a warning about keeping flame and heat sources away until it's done curing.

"We don't need no stinkin' instructions!"* laugh
We just rip open the packaging with a set of bolt cutters, lose vital parts, break springs, completely saturate halogen bulbs in sweat etc, and then take the wreckage back and whine at Lowes for a refund!

* This phrase originated in the 1948 film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre with Humphrey Bogart.
Mexican bandit leader is trying to convince Fred C. Dobbs and co that they are the Federales.

Fred C. Dobbs: "If you're the police, where are your badges?"
Mex. bandito : "Badges? We ain' got no badges. We don' need no badges!
I don' have to show you any stinkin' badges!'
