680.21(A)(5) says pool pumps, cord and plug connected can only have a 3' cord.

422.16(B)(2).
422.16(B)(2)(2)
422.16(B)(4)(2)
430.42(C)
680.7(A)
680.21(A)(5)

Heres a few, check them out and you decide the common denominator.

Some think I'm nuts...But I enjoy danceing around the book.
(Thats not why they think I'm nuts though)

When looking for an answer: Focus on the "key" word. Here Flex. cord...422.16. Next "MOTOR" Start at 430 then move from there. You'll be surprised!!!

Best of luck!!!!

It is really a bad question.
I guess the real answer they are looking for would depend on what the options they give you on the test.
So far we have found 36" (pools), Between 3' and 4' (dishwashers) and 18" (disposals & range hoods).

I picked on 680.22 because that is the only article that specifically says "motors" and lists a length.
Appliances may have motors in them but that is not the way the article is worded.

Not to 2nd guess..But do they specifically ask "cord"?
6' seems to be more of a "flex" issue, greenfield etc. In wich case 6' jumps out, GEC in any piece longer than 6' etc..
I can't find 6' anywhere associated with "cord connected.."

Any one look at Busways Article (368)>
Industrial 368.56(B)2
You can go a lot longer then 6 ft. The ist support is required within 6 ft .
2005Handbook page 407 shows a good example.

Also see 400.14 (50ft)
