The credit card company is charging your supllier anywhere from 2%-5% for all charges to the card. You should be able to negotiate that discount for paying cash or cheque.

MasterCard does not charge anything provided the statement is paid out in full within 14 days of the statement date.

They don't charge the card holder but the retailer pays a 2%-5% charge of each sale they charge to the a credit card. If you charge $100 to a MC the retailer only gets back $98.

Sorry jdevlin. I didn't read your original post correctly, and you're right about the charge to the vendor. My supplier's credit dep't doesn't seem to worry about it as they did tell me that most of the contractors pay that way. I will take your advice and talk to them about a discount for cash - thanks!
