I am mostly a lurker, occasional poster (last asked about redoing a huge chandelier, a project which will commence shortly). I found this video on YouTube and thought the idiocy might be of interest.

From what I understand, the individuals responsible for this video launched some sort of non-conductive wire or string over the transmission lines, tied a copper wire to the end and pulled on the other wire until the copper made contact with the lines. Too bad they missed out on the Darwin Award!

Some of the comments are atrocious, one user plans on making a cannon to shoot a wire over high tension lines near his house. Also the poster's YouTube page for more "brave" stunts.
