I am trying to squeeze another year out of this W/98 machine so I dumped Internet Exploder and loaded Firefox (based on reviews here)
So far so good. I am 36 hours without a crash, closing on the record.

Good choice, Greg. I've been using Firefox for a couple years now, and I have had no problems with it. The good folks at Mozilla seem to have figured out how to stop pop-ups dead in their tracks 'cause I almost never get any while using Firefox. Once in a while a web page won't load properly so I use I.E. to view it...and whad'ya know...I get pop-ups. (and pop-unders too)
I guess the Micro$oft guys are too busy fixing security flaws to spend the time to build a good web browser.

Be sure you run a spyware remover before you move to Firefox. some spyware will cause Firefox not to load a site, forcing you to open IE which it can control. Go to the digital goddess site and get on from her. komando.com

How does the spell check work. I don't seem to be getting the suggestions of what I should have typed.

Greg, here is speed trick for Firefox. Since this is old information, I don't know if it works with newer versions of Firefox. Scroll down to Nick's post.

I looked at the tweeks (a word not in spell check but right click pops up the guesses so I'm good).

At any rate I am not tweeking anything for speed right now. I go fast enough and this is solid. I am not messing with it.
I am now a few days without a crash, every minute is a new record.
