Reno, I agree that Dewalt is losing its quality. I bought a 6 piece kit last year and have had the drill replaced(under warranty) and recently new chuck on the replacement and yesterday the thing started jumpimg out of gear. Fortunautly I have replaced the worn out trigger in my old 18v and started using it again. The batts do not seem to hold up as well either. I hope they do put out a lith batt or when the next time comes around for replacement I will be looking to Milwaukee or Makita or Bosch

DEWALT: I broke down 4 yrs ago (formaly Makita, 15YRS).I spent $90 on a rebuild from Sears (light,hammer/drill combo) not a problem to date.

Only real complaint, the dewalt is much too bulky but very powerfull. Makita seems to have a better balance to it.

I also HATE the molded case, I can not fit any of my "junk" in it, coz all the space is accounted for. I hate that!

All the old tools use standard cells; if you're handy with a soldering gun, you can replace them yourself. Or, there's at least place on the net you can send your old batteries, and they'll replace them for you- was very reasonable, IIRC, but I don't have the link anymore.
