I'm looking for a manual fixture hoist that a 2x4 surface mounted fixture can be set on, then jacked up to the ceiling for mounting by 1 man. I've used 'em long ago but can't locate what I'm looking for. Any ideas appreciated.

I never have seen one in my 32 years in the business. If it is only one fixture ask for help. If it's many fixtures get another helper.

How about a 'drywall lift' plus a plywood platform to locate the fixture -

I thought 2x4 fixtures were supposed to be installed by one man.
