I am familiar with the code regarding closet lights. However I would like to install ardee clic strip led undercabinet type lights on the door jamb which I believe is not technically "in" the closet?

410.8 only refers to incandescent and fluoresecent. And the closest reference to the door jam is "installed on the wall above the door..."
That's out of 2002 and I'm too lazy to go out to the van and get the 2005 right now.
I'm curious to see if 2008 addresses this and other types of lighting.
I'd say you should be OK putting it any where fluorescent is OK.

I wrote a proposal to the 2008 that they recognize LED lights in a closet with less or no restriction. They said "accept in principle" but I never actually went back to see what language they decided on.
