What kind of vehicles do your inspectors drive? We had a CalOSHA inspector show up today in a purple compact (w/ CA State plates). He was lost, 2 blocks away from the job he was looking for. Bottom of the motor pool?
Some of the other AHJ's drive new full size pickups, SUV's etc. What does the inspector need an SUV for?

Offhand, one current rage is comm towers up muddy access roads on hilltops with 6-gang 200A meter/service entrance sections—for multiple tower-space tenants.

Mine drives a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The other two use their work trucks, a Ford and Chevy, respectively.
4 Wheel drive is a must here, due to mud and snow, and lots of hills.
(Due to the rain, getting in and out of my driveway requires locking in the hubs. Don't mean to complain relative to those in the drought areas...)

I work PT as an inspectoin Edison, NJ The town vehicles are Ford Escort Wagons (Hatchbacks)and they are ORANGE, Town seals on the doors, and Vehicle numbers. A few say "Code Enforcement". My personal vehicle is a Chevy Tahoe, I know what you guys mean by "need the 4 wheel drive"! John

Hey Scott [electure],
Have you seen the City Of Anaheim Inspectors showing up in those little "Tic-Tac" Cars (Cars which resemble a Tic-Tac)! They were like Geo Metros and such!
Would have died laughing if Harley pulled up in one of those!

Scott 35 Tic-Tacs...great. Yes, I've seen 'em. Had an enormous inspector (not Anaheim)about '95 that drove a little personally owned "Tic-Tac". Smashed headlight, bad paint. He shut off the car, which dieseled badly, unfolded himself when he got out, came in and did a whole T-bar inspect on a little TI I was doing. He signed off, folded himself back into the car and just turned on the key. As the car was still dieseling, he didn't even need the starter. I laughed uncontrollably. (Don't know if if was from the humor of it all, or from the noxious fumes from his car...my eyes burned badly for a while)...S
