I agree with this, the mess from abandoned installations can become unruly. I did a network install for a small private school and during the process I removed all the thin net (50 ohm coax, 10 base-2) I could to make room for the nice shiny cat5e running at 1Gb/s. Removing all the old crap makes it a LOT easier to install new cable.

I also selected a different color for the new Ethernet, there was some old Ethernet still in the ceiling as well for an old Novell system.

So the color is this except in one room where there is only one wire:
New 1Gb/s TCP/IP stuff: blue with green tags at the switch if near other networks, no tag if its REALLY obvious what it does. (some cat 5e added earlier before I got there is gray, but it is tagged green)

Old 10Mb/s Novell IPX: gray with red tags at the switch.

Thinnet for the old Macs..... GONE! laugh
