I can't say anything about larger systems, but I never heard of any real problems with residential refrigerators and freezers. And I'm absolutely sure I would if it were a serious problem, since all new installations from about 1975 onwards have all circuits RCD protected, 100mA or 30mA.

I did read some German recommendations not to put the refrigerator/freezer on an RCD circuit, but those always referred to the risk of other devices on that circuit tripping the RCD.
