Guys, I got to tell you... Un-like some of the fooling around here on this thread, I saw the most ridiculous thing at the stereo store a few days ago. I'll have to go back and get a picture.

It was $9/ft "Monster" power supply cord, an example of which was made up in a display case, with a $1.50 Byrant cord cap on it. I had to bring up the "Cryogenic" gold dipped re-manufacture of a Hubble receptical seen on a few posts here with the guy at the counter. His reply was, "Oh those are great..." He then tried to sell me some "High end" speaker wire. Who needs that, I said, "I have several rolls of MC in the truck!" [Linked Image]

I have some results....

Under ten feet, no noticable problems....
From that distance signal degrades at increasing ration to nearly nothing at 60', and hum rises at about the same rate.

So there we have it!

No I am going to try some baluns, and see how these work. http://www.hometech.com/video/muxlab.html
I'll let you all know...

How was the cable connected? Sounds like you soldered RCA's directly to a pair?

Well I'm a bit surprised but that confirms my suspicions. Can't see how they could do it in that small package.

Have you taken a look inside to see how they connect the RCA to the cable? I suspect that it's just straight through and I do remember you said they used two pairs?

Of course this doesn't bode well for their other jacks in that line such as the S video to cat5.

I think I would complain to Leviton about this. What are they good for?
