I received a flier in the mail today about an auction of an electrical contracting business...retirement sale. It's at www.bid-2-buy.com

There is a lot of equipment, mostly old and well used. I'm guessing that the business wasn't profitable enough to be sold as a whole business, so it's being sold for inventory.

Common thing for small electrical contracting shops, most likely run like a job for years, great at electrical, but missing out on building something for himself, i have see a good amount of small Plumbing and HVAC business go for six figures plus at retirement, and a larger percent of electrical ones lucky to get a few thousand at auction or yard sale, the good news is, the younger EC's comming up plan better, and operate it like a business.

Les, you think that is a small firm?

Looks like he was a supplier/retail shop as well as a contractor.

If I had to guess, I'd say some devoloper came in and bought his property to subdivide, and told him to get rid of all the stuff, and the guy is taking the devolopers money and retiring.

But this is just a guess.
