With gas at $2.70 on the way to $3/gal, we are about to add a fuel surcharge to all invoices. (service calls) Is anyone else adding a fuel surcharge, mileage or otherwise recovering gas costs?

don't do that, that's your problem, not the customers [Linked Image]

(sorry couldn't resist)

Actaully, we will. I have a friend who owns a limo company. They have a $12 surcharge on a trip from my area (colts neck) to Newark Airport to cover the extra fuel costs.

And people pay it.

We add a $25 "truck charge" to all T&M and service calls per day to cover fuel and truck repair. Most people are pretty understanding of it. We also include in our bids but the customer just doesn't know it ;-)

Everyone complains about the price of fuel, even us, so I just charge more per job to cover it. It is just another item on the bill for them to complain about.
