I see a number of replies that seem to say "no one in their right mind would do the."

It may interest all to learn that such a product was actively marketed in the USA in the late '70's ... late night TV infomercials and all. Needless to say, the product was removed from the market as soon as the first reports of injuries and lawsuits began to arrive...

Couldn't agree more, mate!.
There is always someone that could get the wrong idea from reading a website and try and copy an idea that was stupid from the beginning.
The less that ideas like this catch on, the better!.
Not only is it silly to attempt a thing like this, it is also cruel, step voltage would be a nasty way to die, if you are an underground animal, yeah sure moles might be pests, but chances are they were there first.
Moles are nocturnal aren't they Alan?.
