Guys,
I'm looking for your help on an issue we have at work, mainly from our Aus/NZ members.
I have a series of suspended sockets (that are designed to fit onto the end of a flex and be supported by a chain).
They were originally installed on the end of a curly cord from a horizontal length of cable tray.
Now with the cords becoming stretched, the things are easily reaching the ground and a couple have been run over by fork-lifts and are in a dangerous state of repair. [Linked Image]
Now, these old ones are a Clipsal branded thing and I can't read the actual code number on them, but they look like they are not made for industrial use.
Here is the question before me, I need a reasonably compact 10A single-phase switched suspension socket, can anyone give me a brand and code number for some replacements?.
Any help I can get on this matter would be gratefully accepted, as there is only PVC tape saving some of the staff at work from a 230V shock.
I'd like to get this fixed before the weekend is out if possible.
BTW, don't worry about the fork-lift risk any more, I've sorted that one out.
Cheers,
Mike. [Linked Image]

32VAC is right, Clipsal makes suspended sockets. PDL makes them too, but I think Clipsal is cheaper.

Go on then, be patriotic and use PDL.

Oddly enough Kiwi,
I did go to PDL's website and done a search and nowhere could I find a suspended switch socket unit.
{Edit: Oops, sorry, just found a 927P socket unit} [Linked Image]

Also I need some lock-dogs that fit BKM breakers.
I wish that there was a lock-dog that fitted all breakers.
I have no idea why the company went with a Bremca Main Switchboard, I would have installed a Vynco board given the choice.
The electrical company low-balled on the install, I think.
Good CT chamber, but the distribution chambers are a bloody mess.
I've organised a 2 day shut-down to correct a number of issues the least being cables being bought into the board without glands and sharp edges surrounding the cables. [Linked Image]
Since I have taken over as Maintainence Supervisor, I have a whole list of things that have to be done while the power is off.
At last count, I had 260 things to be fixed to save peoples lives alone, that is without the operational stuff that needs fixing.
Don't ever get into the newspaper industry folks, it will take years off of your life.

Nice one Trumpy. I'll check and see if our G.E. locks fit the BKMs. I'll let you know.

When you say the distribution chambers are a mess, can you elaborate on the problems ?
I'm always interested to hear feed-back and opinions on switchboard design.
