Good on ya mate and your family for taking the time.
I agree that it does seem to rain on ANZAC day.
It never kept a LOT of people at home here.
I knew my Grandad well and if he had been looking down on us at the ANZAC parade, he would have said to his mates up there,
"Look at them silly bastards down there getting soaked to the bone".
This was the same guy that said to me not long before he passed away, "There are old soldiers and there are those that are just old shits".
He was a sergeant(sp?) with the British Army, I still have the greatest amount of respect for him, he made me the Fire Officer I am today.
I nearly became a Blacksmith actually, however there isn't a lot of call for them these days, although I can turn out a decent pair of horse shoes and I can weld in a forge, how many engineers can say that these days?. (Alan?)
