Are any of you seeking to gain/have gained self-certification status for the new regime?

What are your experiences, and who did you use to get assessed?

As an Niceic member automatically got self cert status at no extra charge. At last Niceic membership has come up trumps.

John, Alan,
When self-certification first came out here in NZ, it seemed to us to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.
After 12 years under this system, we now know it to be quite good as far as us qualified people are concerned.
Sure there are a few problems, but you'll get that in any system.
The thing you guys have to do is this:
Look at what it is, not what it is not!. [Linked Image]

Another point about self-certification, here at least, was back in 1992, we were told by the EWRB that we had the option of this or having a rolling Audit system.
Little did we know that the two would be combined in 1995.
But, like all things, guys, at least as far as us guys go here, it only catches the honest Electrician.
I use the term Electrician, to denote those of us that can be bothered to sit exams, have done thier time, have things like licences and work within a safe sort of manner, with thier work.
Anyone that likes to work in a Rip, **** and Bust, manner, doesn't deserve the label of an Electrician, it is a title that is earned, not a given.
Self Certification, by rights, should weed that lot out, through the Audit system. [Linked Image]
