That last Russian radio is interesting in having only a 150 to 280kHz long-wave band on AM. Unlike North America, long-wave has been used for broadcasting in Western Europe for many years, but it's curious that that set doesn't include the regular medium-wave band (540 to 1600) as well.

On soldering irons, I've used all sorts of different types over the years, but have always come back to Weller. All my irons and guns are Weller now, except for one vintage 75W Solon iron.

My dad has a late 70ies Weller that will power up the table if it's only slightly wet. Pretty ugly having a wooden table hot @220V...

Maybe a combination of a missing ground and an element shorted to the casing?
